Global Citizen Patriots examines the current state of the American system of constitutional values, democracy and capitalism. After four years of study, the author concludes that the system is badly in need of reform and change. In fact, most Americans sense that change is needed. However, legislative corruption and citizen disengagement have allowed partisan groups and well funded special interests to block progress. If the United States is to secure its future and act as a globally positive influence, both government representatives and citizens need to do their jobs. This book catalogues the root causes of representative and citizen dysfunction. Failure to address these problems diminishes our democracy and promotes crony capitalism. These outcomes are contrary to the values of Americas founders and impedes our willingness and ability to be a global leader. If we are to create a better world for ourselves and others, significant changes to our system are necessary.
