Short stories that are unfulfilled episodes in the lives various characters without clear resolutions. There are no happy endings. Life just goes on, or doesnt. Checkhov negates all things fairy tale in favour of stark reality. Not one to read for escapism, but for some magnificent insights into the human condition.
